Existing Building in Wellington

The StruktEQ team has been involved in the post-earthquake rapid inspection of a 5-storey concrete building in Wellington after the recent 2013 Kaikoura earthquakes.
A full seismic strengthening design and structural upgrade of the building was then completed following this to improve the strength of the building from less than 34% (earthquake-prone) to 67%NBS.
A series of steel Cross-Braced Frames (CBFs) on bored piles was selected as the optimal solution. A full nonlinear pushover analysis and displacement-compatibility check was then performed on the existing and proposed new structural systems.
